HOUSE LARANJEIRAS IX
I 2013
Reflecting the clients' personalities and inspired by local aspects, this veranda house, which opens out to the front and back, is a blend of contemporary architecture and a fisherman's house. As it has a direct connection to Rio de Janeiro's anchorage-filled cove and is linked to the sea, it pays homage to the port area through its decks that link the street to the house, the house to the pool and, finally, the house to the canal. Anchored to its plot, it offers dynamism in both the choice of materials and the construction logic.
On a linear site measuring thirty-three meters, a wood-clad pavilion rests on a concrete block, supported by subtle metal pillars. Reserved for the intimate area of the house, it stands out for its blue-colored demolition wood and, set back in volume, generates balcony spaces, like on a ship's deck.
The block reserved for the social area, on the other hand, is light and open, connecting the visuals of those arriving at the residence to the vegetation, which filters the light coming from behind, and the view of the canal that brings the reference of the sea into the family's life.
